ABSTRACT
The possibility and practicability of usage aluminiferous waste in the production of aluminate cements were studied. Aluminothermic slag, calcareous component and alumina in row stock was correlated for different compositions of aluminate clinkers. Clinkers were making by electric-arc melting at temperature 1600 оС. There was found a difference in mineral composition under conditions fast and slow cooling aluminate melts. In case of fast cooling main phase was calcium bialuminate and high glass-like phase content. In other side, clear crystallization of all minerals calcium monoaluminate and calcium bialuminate, magnesia spinel was observed, and the main phase was calcium monoaluminate. It has designed a composition of concrete, having high heat-resistant properties: strength on condition of normal hardening 40-50 MPa, residual strength after heating – 60% from initial, low shrinkage – 0,2-0,3%, heat resistance 30 cycles, refractoriness 1830 оС.
Keywords: aluminiferous waste, calcium aluminate cement (CAC), refractory castables, mineral composition, СО2 emission.
