ABSTRACT
Hydric soils, named as Gleysols and Stagnosols, have formed under conditions of saturation, flooding or ponding long enough during the growing season to develop anaerobic conditions in the upper part of soil profile. If microbes are active (>50C), if the soil is saturated with stagnant water, and there is a source of usable organic matter in the soil, then redox feauter will result. In the region Banat, situated in the north west of Romania, there is a large area with soils that have water excess: hydric soils, with58000 ha (9% from total area of zone) and vertisols, with 81000 ha (12,5%). For that reason, we have been investigated the enzymatic activity in a Mollic Gleysol (W.R.B.), with different land use: pasture, pasture with breaking up the sod, vineyard, field cultivated with winter wheat. The enzymes studiated were: saccharose, and dehydrogenase, with a circular polarimeter and saccharose as enzymatic substratum for saccharase, and photocolorimetric analysis with glucose solution for dehydrogenase. The results show that the great enzymatic activity is in the pasture, an average activity in the field cultivated with wheat, and a low activity in the vineyard plantation. The correlation between some physical and chemical indices, like pH, total nitrogen, NO₃−, NH₄+, P₂O₅ and K₂O, with saccharase and dehydrogenase, shows that the enzymatic activity is not strong influenced by these indices, and decrease with the depth. An exception is the correlation between sacharazic activity and the level of phosphorus content.
