ABSTRACT

This paperwork aims to present the correlation between the Modulus of Deformation, E as a physical parameter and the internal friction angle of the soil, φ as a resisting parameter of soils. Assigning the resisting parameters to soils shall be reliable and when there is a suspicion in their values derived out of a test, than they shall be compared with other tests used to determine the shear resistance. To give the correlation between the Modulus of Deformation, E and the internal friction angle, φ the results obtained from 50 carried out tests in labs such as Altea and that of Civil Engineering Faculty in Tirana are used, aiming to determine the shear resistance of cohesive soils. The commercial software MATLAB is used to calculate the correlation between the Modulus of Deformation, E and the internal friction angle, φ expressed through a first order polynomial and through the second order polynomial taking into account all measurements done or by neglecting some of the same.
