ABSTRACT
During period of preparing the construction of halls of the industrial park, according to the geotechnical investigation were found adverse properties of soil. Below the ground surface was situated 5.5 m soft clay layer, deeper clayey gravel. Due to the nearby located river, the groundwater level was found just below the ground surface. Strict requirements to fulfilling first of all the serviceability limit state have led to the preparing the load test in real geological conditions in scale 1:1. Expecting load on the floor of the hall was 50 kPa. Before was arranged the load test, various foundation technique were studied and calculated. For the load tests were prepared two test fields with modification of the composition of the underlying layer below the hall floor. In one case was created gravel filling below the hall floor and in the second case was the gravel filling reinforced by biaxial geogrid. The load was applied by three levels. Evaluation of measured settlement was used for prognosis of consolidation and also was compared by analytical calculation of settlement. Results of the load test were the basis for design of floor layers of the industrial park halls.
Keywords: soft clay layer, load test, settlement of tested hall floor.
