The risk assessment of buildings in mining areas is being related to the adoption of appropriate measurement methods. These facilities should be properly analysed for the threat to mining activities. The surveys having conducted on the area subjected to continuous deformation caused by underground mining, allow to determine the impact of this exploitation on the buildings located on the soil surface. Surveys are often the only source of information on the impact of exploitation on local infrastructure. Surveys methods for mining subsidence through the acquisition, processing and analysis of measurement results allow predictions and estimation of potential hazards of buildings. The results of the measurements may serve as a starting point for assessing the threat of technical infrastructure in the mining areas. As an example of geodetic measurements conducted, the area of KWK "Piast" coal mine in Bieruń Nowy is shown. The hazard assessment of buildings located in Bieruń Nowy by calculating the probability of failure is performed.
