ABSTRACT
Donetsk coal basin (East Donbass) is one of the oldest industrial regions of South Russia. The area for more than hundred years became a place of considerable concentration of population. The most significant is the change in the hydrochemical composition of surface and groundwater. In addition, significant problems are waterlogging, land salinization, siltation of rivers.
Monitoring of liquidation of mines of East Donbass shows that currently the water quality of almost all rivers are classified as "very dirty" and "extremely dirty" with a large list of critical indicators of pollution. In most cases, the class of "extremely dirty" is maintained throughout the rivers, or changes to it in the monitoring section. The quality of the water in the river Tuzlov slightly lower compared to the Seversky Donetsk.
