Nowadays, any modern water supply system needs to be more efficient, more reliable and less expensive to achieve its main goal, to supply water in a high quality services for the end users. Many researchers, engineers, designers, scientist and decision makers activating in this domain are continuously trying to improve the services provided and to increase their financial efficiency. This paper presents the results in the researches done in order to improve the use of water as a natural source in order to maximize the efficiency in a multi-objective approach. It is known that the water supply system of population is designed based on many principals that are taking into consideration the location of the source, the configuration of the consumers, the economical speed of water, etc. Depending on the location of the water source used for the supply systems we can classify the system as gravitational supply system or pumped supply systems. A study on an existing middle sized city gravitational water supply system is completed in order to analyze the opportunity to maximize the use of water according to the multi-objective purposes. When a gravitational water supply system is available, certain advantages arise from this configuration like reduced cost for water capture, transport and distribution.
