ABSTRACT
River systems behavior and its impact on the environment in certain degree depend on the river flow availability. Two main aspects play significant role. First one is connected to the direct physical influence associated mostly with the extreme events occurrences with respect to the possible related damages. The second one can be associated to the indirect flow influence with regard to some water related economic sectors as hydro-energetic, water supply, irrigation, water transport, etc. which operation and efficiency are in consequence of waters availability and quantity with special regard to the time variations. For clarification purposes in the article both aspects are briefly considered with respect to the climate change influence. Adopted in Bulgaria and EU measures and practices in the area are briefly presented. A special attention is focus on the possibility of future scenarios implementation as a tool for the possible harmful effects mitigation. For the purpose an attempt of the problem clarification with regard to some recent investigations for Bulgarian conditions are presented. The article borders some new directions for measures and applied solutions in the area.
