ABSTRACT

Waste production and its increase is a logical consequence of the constantly increasing demands of society. Wastes are energy and material potential that can be used to meet other needs of society. The basis is, however, an effective waste management system towards the further processing of waste. From 1 January 2016 in the Slovak Republic, valid for the new law on waste, this should lead to a new waste management system aimed at the increased rate of waste separation. Waste Act provides for waste management in Slovakia extended producer responsibility producers contribute financially to the system of waste collection. The new legislation also tightens up the rules for the collection of scrap metal and increases the demand for separate collection of biodegradable waste.
