PROFILING PERMEABILITY OF SOLID ROCKS FOR MINING CONDITIONS ASSESSMENT USING THE PDPK-400 APPARATUS

ABSTRACT
The search for a test method and apparatus used for conducting permeability determination of solid rocks that would represent the filtration character of the geological environment in the conditions of underground mining in the best way possible is a difficult and complex issue. A good way may be one which would allow examination of the permeability variation in the vertical profile in any direction in relation to the stratification of rocks (x,y,z). The paper shows a method of determination the filtration coefficient in the laboratory conditions using the PDPK-400 apparatus, which is used to assess the variation in permeability/filtration coefficient of rocks forming a drill core of any length. A sample research method together with the results of determinations on a portion of drill core as a segment of the lithostratigraphic profile of the Saddle Layers from the area of the Upper Silesian Coal Basin was presented. The conditions of conducting research, the possibilities and benefits of using PDPK-400 apparatus in laboratory studies was indicated.
