THE EFFECTS OF AFFORESTATION OF PRIVATE LAND WITHIN THE PROGRAMME OF RURAL DEVELOPMENT FOR THE PERIOD 2007-2013 IN POLAND

ABSTRACT
Forests in Poland are approx. 30% of the total area of the country. The ownership structure is dominated by state-owned land - more than 81%, while private occupy ok.19%.
Size implemented afforestation depend largely on the amount of funds allocated annually for this purpose in the budget. In addition to grants from the budget, afforestation of private land was supported provincial public funds for environmental protection and water management and little means of State Forests in the form of free allocation seedlings. In 2002-2004, we used a new system of financing afforestation of agricultural land under the Act on the allocation of agricultural land for afforestation.
After the Polish accession to the European Union there is a change in the financing of private land for afforestation. Method of financing afforestation of agricultural land is the Programme of Rural Development 2007-2013. The paper presents the principles of forest land for afforestation under the program and present the outcome of afforestation for individual provinces. The largest area afforested in the regions of Warmia and Mazury, Mazovia.
