ABSTRACT
The theoretical basis of electrodynamic seismic sensors absolute calibration method by a single displacement of the sensor is presented in the paper. This method implementation needs simple mechanical tools and a recording system. The necessary processing of the step-test impact can be done with the help of standard software on any modern PC. We will show example of 10 Hz geophone calibration with this method. The method is recommended for calibration of sensors characterized by 0.5 to 30 Hz natural frequencies.
Keywords: absolute calibration, pulse calibration, geophone, electrodynamic sensor, seismometer, jump of displacement, step-test, velocimeter, velometer, natural frequency, damping factor, frequency response.
