ABSTRACT
Authors present a model of education of key competencies of university students in
technical study fields, which is research-based. Research results (N = 658) demonstrated that level of key competencies (mathematical, verbal, digital competencies etc.) of students in technical fields is relative lower than would be expected from university students. Their performance in test of competencies was raging from average to below average. The authors have identified selected potential causes of this situation. They suggest the ways of improving education in relation to the further development of key competencies for lifelong learning.
