Brief description of the study and used methods. Brief description of the study and used English for Specific Purposes is a learner-centered foreign language training, that’s why it is needs-based and involves all professional interests of its participants. The course is successful when it is characterized by collaboration with workplace or content of their major education. It is responsibility of a teacher developing the course to know what appropriate, authentic tasks and materials (specificity and relevance) could be used for teaching. The teacher should know who his learners are, so that he could design the program and select the materials to be used for the course. Our course participants may be not only students but also engineers of local oil producing companies involved in research work or interested in the achievements of oil producing companies and research centers in other countries. The most effective teaching techniques are the ones that draw on learners’ own experience and knowledge. The teacher’s role is to be a guide and an advisor in choosing appropriate lexical and grammatical elements, provider of a source of additional information if such is needed. In recent years designing challenging and interesting tasks has become easier thanks to the unprecedented increase in the role of ICT in language teaching.
