ABSTRACT
A number of new tools such as environmental management systems – EMAS and EMS, environmental accounting, environmental reporting, life cycle assessment (LCA) and many others are available now for the purpose of making companies more environmentally pro-active. The EU Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) is a management instrument developed by the European Commission for companies and other organisations to improve their environmental performance. EMS is voluntary tool of the environmental management in the organization, established to manage its important environmental aspects and to achieve conformity with legal requirements. By benefits identification various aspects are monitored by means of a rather large number of indicators, but the most detailed ones mainly refer to aspects where performances improvement means cost reduction and profit increasing. The Paper aims at these benefits of environmnental management systems implementation in the conditions of the Slovak Republic.
