THE POPULATION’S PERCEPTION OF THE ENVIRONMENT’S QUALITY IN TIRGU MURES

ABSTRACT
The city of Tîrgu Mureş is one of the most important urban centres of Transilvania, who has developed due to the transports and the chemical industry (chemical fertilizers and drugs). In order to evaluate the population’s perception of the environment’s quality in Tîrgu Mureș. There has been made a survey on a representative sample,for a population of 111 321 inhabitants over 20 years old, with a maximum admitted error of 5% and a confidence level of 95%. The questionnaire has been ongoing for two months. The next aspects were taken into consideration: the environmental quality in the town of Tîrgu Mureș, the environmental quality in the neighbourhoods of Tîrgu Mureș and informations reffering to the environmental quality (sources, categories). The differentiations depend on criterias such as age, gender and level of education. The research concerning the quality and the functionality of the environment in Tîrgu Mureș has come to the conclusion that the health state and mental comfort are strongly conditioned by the environmental quality.
