ABSTRACT
All wastes, as the products of human activity, necessarily enter matter cycles in nature
and ecosystems after certain time. They can damage the nature by their direct effects on
biotic and abiotic ecosystems. Our contribution discusses the risk properties of wastes
and their influences on the environment with respect to the protection of public health.
The hazard effects of wastes are demonstrated using some cases of their direct
exposition on organisms and other parts of the environment.
Keywords: hazard of wastes, waste management, public health protection
