ORDOS 100 – THE IMPLEMENTATION OF GREEN DESIGN AND SUSTAINABLE PRICIPLES

ABSTRACT
The process of housing green design is often stressed by economic consideration and financial investment revenue. An international competition held in China by a large building development corporation is always an opportunity for young offices to promote themselves on international context but also to propose a sustainable approach in order to respond to specific site conditions. ORDOS 100 is such a competition, held in 2008, opened to young architects and internationally promoted in order to find a new direction in housing development. The paper will discuss the competition process and the ideas rose from competition project in order to provide social, economical and ecological qualities, promoting a sustainable design process by this type of commission.
