ABSTRACT
The paper presents results furnished by a national research program developed at the National Institute for Research and Development “URBAN-INCERC”, Cluj-Napoca Branch, in order to establish preparation and use of lightweight aggregate concrete. The experimental program was taking into account the possibility of using crushed bricks as concrete aggregates in a high degree, due to the following purposes: recycling bricks waste, obtaining structural lightweight concrete and preservation of natural aggregates resources. Fresh (density and slump) and hardened (density in oven dry and saturated state, compressive strength, thermal conductivity) concrete properties were investigated on several concrete mixes. The obtained results recommend the lightweight concrete mixes with bricks recycled aggregates for masonry blocks production.
Keywords: green lightweight concrete, recycled bricks, structural application
