ABSTRACT

When solving the geodetic tasks, we often encounter the problem of an accurate localization of the geographic coordinates of the points by some localization device. Despite the technological advancement of the measurement technology, the question of getting more accurate measurement results is still a matter of significant discussions. In all cases, it is necessary to consider the uncertainty of the measurement. In this paper, we discuss the situations when, with the help of the statistical methods (i.e. regression models), it is possible to refine the point coordinates, acquired by a GPS device, after the measurement. This paper can inspire the mathematical statisticians when searching for the estimators of the parameters in the regression models and when looking for the solutions of the problems arising during designing, processing and evaluating the measurement experiments.
