ABSTRACT

The NELA system was created in cooperation with the Faculty of Electrical
Engineering and Computer Science of VŠB-Technical University of Ostrava and the
Neurocognitive Laboratory of the University Hospital Ostrava for the purpose of
neurocognitive rehabilitation of patients who, owing to the system, can carry out
practice tests comfortably from their homes and thus contribute to their quicker
recovery. The fundamental bases of neurocognitive rehabilitation rely on the so-called
brain plasticity, i.e. the ability of brain capacity to modify its structure or function as a
response to learning and brain damage.

The test methods represent a standardized method of examination at which certain rules
are followed, uniform aids are used and the obtained answers are analyzed in a uniform
manner. The test is an experiment as it brings about an examined person’s behavior
under controlled condition. Performance tests were chosen to be included in the system.
