ABSTRACT

Chronology of the largest flood events in the Slovak Republic has been dated between
1993 and 2010. At that time the area was disabled series serious SR floods, which left
behind broad material damages. The impact of their devastating power has been not just
on the environmental situation relevant parts but also on human lives. This paper is
devoted to the evaluation of scale above flood events by using GIS tools. The aim was
to assess the relevant available information on the flood events of that period. The most
important evaluation factors are measured at different flow gauging stations. For this
reason, a large part of output of the GIS based just on the flow conditions. They are
ranked among the causal factors affecting the very existence and manifestation of
flooding.
