ABSTRACT

The incident produced in December 2010 in the mining area, Ocna Mureş, the
subsidence and damage caused to buildings located in this area, leading to request a
study on surface instability operating in the salt mining area. This phenomenon occurs
after subsidence products, but a much larger scale, in the exploitation of salt in solution
in the other area Ocnele Mari. These repetead phenomena rang the bells of authorities,
in order to make studies of instability of the salt mining areas and in particular the
exploitation of salt in solution, monitoring these areas and providing measures to avoid
collapse. This study aimed to highlight the dynamics of the phenomenon by means of
tracking topographic caliper measurements and geomechanical characterization of rock
to forecast future subsidence area and ensure stability.
