METHODS FOR DETERMINATION OF AIR TEMPERATURE WITH THE USE OF METEOROLOGICAL DATA FROM STATION DĘBLIN-IRENA
ABSTRACT
The temperature of air exerts a huge impact on the life of man and his natural surroundings. Especially, the influence of air temperature is visible in terrains which are less urbanized or in rural areas, where agriculture is a dominant sphere of human activity. The aim of this paper is to present and describe the possibility of using synoptic data for the designation of surface temperature for the town of Dęblin. The Dęblin city is located in the Ryki district in Lubelskie Voivodeship of south-eastern Poland. Around Dęblin city, there are mostly large rural terrains and forests. The research experiment was conducted on 26 June 2016. On this day, i.e. June 26, the highest temperature in 2016 year was measured and observed. The values of the air temperature were determined on the basis of meteorological data from the synoptic station Dęblin/Irena, belonging to the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management in Warsaw in Poland. The temporal resolution of meteorological data amounted to 1 hour and it is referenced to UTC time. In the article a daily trend of the change of air temperature was determined, using the trigonometric and polynomial functions. The trigonometric model makes it possible to recover the air temperature with the standard deviation on the level of ±1.60C, whereas the standard deviation for polynomial function equals to ±2.40C. In the paper, the authors also estimate values of the air temperature for the empirical models of the troposphere - the SA model and the UNB3m model. The presentation and visualization of meteorological data collected by the SYNOP station, in this article, may be exploited for weather monitoring in rural areas and sparsely populated areas. Additionally, the synoptic data may be an important source of information in terms of climate and meteorological changes in agricultural areas.
Keywords: temperature, SYNOP data, station, troposphere empirical models.
