ABSTRACT

A hydrogeological map is a cartographic model reflecting the structure, regularities of formation and spread of gravity underground water. Traditionally, cartographic data on hydrogeology are presented as a rule in hard copies or in formats of graphic editors. Another large part of cartographic data is presented in the formats MapInfo and ArcGIS, which does not meet criteria identifying their belonging to up-to-date information systems, and as consequence, limit digital processing of data and its spatial analysis. Prospectivity of geoinformation technologies development and absence of a single and universal approach to the creation of hydrogeological geoinformation systems in the Republic of Kazakhstan substantiate the need in structuring in the form of database of geodata from the obtained results of hydrogeological surveys, including up-to-date hydrogeological maps as well. This article gives the results of surveys aimed at the structuring of hydrogeological information “Horizons and complexes” while creating database of geodata in ArcGIS system. It should be noted that the reliability of geographic information system as a whole depends on the effectiveness of the database.
