AN APPROACH FOR MANAGING AND COMPARING DATA CONCERNING SOME MAIN FOOD PRODUCTS

ABSTRACT

This article presents an approach for managing and comparing data, concerning some main food products in Bulgaria. The source for the search of these product categories (bakery products, milk and milk products, fish and fish products and etc.) is the created relational database. The extracted data for the selected category have been grouped, compared and processed. The obtained results enable the user to present relevant conclusions for the examined time interval. This approach is applied to the data on bread and bakery products. The first of the listed categories contains two product types (white and Dobrudzha bread), while the second consists of four (pasta, bakery, other bakery and pastry-cook products). The change of average prices and purchased quantities per household for each of these six products has been studied for the period 2001-2016. The indicators’ increase or decrease pace has been discussed. Some statistical methods have been used for data analysis in this article. The coefficients of correlation and determination have been calculated and discussed, as well as the differences between the largest and lowest value of each mentioned indicator for the relevant products. The present approach could also be used for the study other economic indicators.
