AN ECONOMIC LOCAL RESEARCH BASED ON FORESTRY ACTIVITIES IN SUCEAVA COUNTY

ABSTRACT

The article presents the exposure of forestry activities in the most deforested counties of Romania – Suceava County. We have conducted a local economic research based on the forestry activities from that county. The database used in this research consists from the National Classification of the Economic Activities, codes at 4-digit level for each territorial administrative unit. The article focuses on the particular situation from the deforested communes: Cârlibaba, Poiana Stampei, Iacobeni. It also presents the aspects based on predominant forestry activities from economic forest exploitation and wood processing. It provides information about the local approach that forestry activities influenced the local economies. Some territorial systems as Cârlibaba, Poiana Stampei, Iacobeni are dependent to forest areas because most of the economic activities are based on sawmilling, planing of wood, carpentry and joinery and forest exploitation. The results of the paper present the overview of the local economies from Suceava with some focus points on the most deforested communes. The boxplots and the correlation graphs were done to complete the research. The predominance of the forestry activities in Suceava County conducts to imbalances the two main activities in forestry (forest exploitation and wood processing).
