ABSTRACT

Holmium (III) removal from nitrate solutions in a form of dodecyl sulfates using ion flotation and extraction methods was studied. Distribution and removal ratios as a function of equilibrium aqueous phase рН value were received. Comparison of experimental results was conducted and conclusions on the effectiveness of each method depending on the assigned task were drawn. Comparative analysis of extraction and flotation methods for holmium (III) cations removal from individual water-salt solutions and in the compresence of rare-earth elements cations was conducted. According to the obtained results, it is possible to use both ion flotation and extraction methods for removal holmium (III) cations from diluted solutions, e.g. for concentrating components during wastewater treatment. The choice of method is determined by removal process realization conditions: aqueous phase рН, presence of foreign ions, solution volume, availability of different extragent and collector agent.
