ABSTRACT
This paper is focused on the simulation using Matlab/Simulink software of the Photovoltaic (PV) cell/module/array for a better understanding of the power generated under different atmospheric conditions (irradiance and temperature). One diode model and double diode model of a PV cell are also shown in this paper. The simulations could be performed considering both models, but here only the PV caracteristics for one diode model will be shown.
The resulting model uses a friendly interface considering the Function Block Parameters to set the parameters of the PV model. The simulation interface help the user to estimate the power generated by the PV array under different environmental conditions.
Besises different levels of irradiation and temperature, the Partial Shading Conditions (PSC) are also taking into consideration for a better understanding regarding the performances of the PV array under PCSs.
Thus, the PV characteristics will be shown for different values of irradiation and constant temperature, for constant irradiation and different values of temperature, and under PSCs as well. A polycrystalline PV module of 100 W is used as references model.
