STUDIES AND RESEARCH CONCERNING THE CONTROL OF EMISSIONS AND GAS IN VARIOUS TECHNOLOGICAL PHASES

ABSTRACT

Simulation and testing technology of sintering flue gas recirculation, under Arcelor Mittal S.A.Galati proved its superiority compared to conventional sintering technology by: lower specific consumption of coke by approx. 10 to 15%; lower costs agglomeration; reduction of pollution due to: decrease of specific volume of exhaust gas to the basket by 45 - 50% ;decrease in the emission of SOx to basket approx. 55%; lowering NOx emissions from basket approx. 50%; CO2 emissions drop to approx basket. 20%; retention layer of approx. 55% of the powder. Reducing the emission of volatile organic compounds (VOC) by decreasing the content of volatile hydrocarbons in the sinter mixture. Given proper dosing and mixing agglomeration mixture of recycled materials, their share can be increased to levels that do not affect the quality of agglomerate, coke consumption and pollutant emissions increase as their upside. Specific emission levels of pollutants in the atmosphere agglomeration, per ton of liquid steel, are made within the EU countries, but to the upper limit, which demonstrates the need for further concern for improving environmental performance by applying appropriate measures.
