TECHNICAL INFRASTRUCTURE RECOVERY IN URBANIZED AREA

Szeligova, N.; Teichmann, M.; Spackova, E.
Abstract:
Applying sustainable development principles interferes with various spheres of human life. The greatest attention is paid to housing, transport, health protection, pollution, etc., i.e. areas noticeable by ordinary residents. Less emphasis is placed on the area of sustainable technical infrastructure. Minimum attention is paid to maintenance, operation, and repairs; and we may in this case often experience emergency maintenance only. Most operators and owners of the technical equipment have recently reported increased intensity of defects in their assets, which is caused in most cases by expired theoretic and physical durability of the material used. The article sets the aim of introducing three possible methods of preventive recovery of the existing technical infrastructure based on the known construction and technical condition of these networks. These methods are: complete redevelopment of utility networks by traditional excavation method, partial redevelopment and non-excavation method. Non-excavation technologies will be dealt with marginally in the contribution. In the case study on Jandovo Stromoradi Street in Frenstat pod Radhostem, first two methods of utility network redevelopment will be applied, and subsequently supplemented with sample visualizations of possible solution including rearrangement of the public space according to principles of sustainable development of the locality.
